Dr. Aabha Nagral is one of India’s esteemed Hepatologist (Liver specialists) base in a prestigious location in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She has been successfully treating Liver disease patients all over the world with a rich experience of more than 30 years. She is also a renowned Gastroenterologist and has been awarded the Master of Gastroenterology Award by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology.
She is known to accomplish solving many complex problems in her field of specialization which includes Liver diseases and Liver transplantation in the Pediatric and Adult domains.
She has been one of the earliest people in India to focus on Hepatology and Pediatric Hepatology. After training taken from 3 premier institutes, Royal Free Hospital and King’s College Hospital London and Mayo Clinic USA, she was instrumental in setting up the first transplant program in Western India at Jaslok Hospital in 1998 and subsequently at Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai in 2016. She has been involved in managing liver transplants since 1998 in India. She was involved in the first successful Paediatric Liver Transplant in Western India. She has also conceptualised and edited the book on Frequently asked questions in liver diseases for the South Asian Association for the Study of Liver (SAASL)
Dr.Aabha Nagral is now the managing trustee of the NGO – Children’s Liver Foundation which was set up to create awareness about liver diseases in children and help families of affected children financially and through support groups.
Dr. Aabha has been on several task forces of the Indian National Association for the Study of Liver (INASL) & has been awarded the title of Fellow of the INASL. She is the chairperson of the SAASL (South Asian Association for the Study of Liver) Women’s Forum and the chairperson of the Liver committee of the Mumbai ZTCC (Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee). She also serves on the Advisory board of the Think Foundation of thalassemia, and her name is enlisted on the Centres of Excellence for Wilson’s disease by the Wilson’s Disease Association of the USA, LSDSS – Lysosomal Storage disorders support society and ORDI – Organization of Rare disorders of India.
Dr. Aabha is a multifaceted personality & is passionate about her hobby of birding.
She communicates with patients best in English, Hindi, and Marathi and is familiar with Gujarati, Bengali, and Punjabi & thus patients get connected easily with her.
